At Kevin Frick Photography, I celebrate the art of capturing the untouched beauty of nature. My commitment is to continue to express my inner landscape through the lens using the canvas of our world.
I started photographing in 2015 with a little used camera and a void to fill. As we all do at times, I was struggling to make sense of life and I needed an outlet. I thought to myself, “What did I want to be when I grew up?” Well, I wanted to be a National Geographic Photographer. I loved nature and found peace there and seeing the beauty of distant places was always exciting to me.
So, I began my journey. I read books and watched some YouTube videos and I took lots and lots of photographs, most of which were very literal. Slowly, I learned to slow down and to breathe again. I drew upon my background as a mental health therapist and began to notice how I was feeling during the exploration process. I immersed myself more in my surroundings, working to become part of the landscapes that I loved. I learned how to listen, how to smell, how to touch, and how to feel again. In doing so, I was able to stop chasing light and start producing photographs that became a light to myself and to others.
Now, I am focusing on becoming a better artist and a better person every day. I am not trying to follow the paths of those before me, but rather I am looking to get to know myself and all of creation better. I hope to become a full-time artist soon and I invite you to explore with me. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.!
(PS. I’m the old guy in the photo, the good-looking one is my son, Theo)
